Don't Stand So Close To Me

Awkward—When someone waves to you.  You wave back.  Then you realize they were waving to the person behind you.

More awkward—When the person waving to you is a total dumbass.  And there's nobody behind you.

A few weeks ago, Lindsay Lohan tweeted something anti-Federal Reserve (it turned out to be a robot).  I thought, cool, someone famous knows about the inflationary central bank.  At the same time, I don't want people to think her and Ron Paul mingle in the same circles.



Ron Paul attracts all kinds, including some awkward endorsers I would rather you not know about.

Along these lines, I'm kind of embarrassed that Mel Gibson was the first to introduce me to the idea of freedom.  Braveheart moved me, and made me wonder what freedom meant, and why some jerks took it away.

With that in mind, here's another shout out to Ron Paul:

Bureaucrats in Orem, Utah, are trying to destroy 71-year-old Darrell "Bud" Durrant's livelihood.  Durrant lives off of a $396 retirement.  The bulk of his income comes from pumpkins that he grows on his farm in Lake Shore, and sells from his yard at  112 W. 1600 N. in Orem ,  a distance of  17 miles . Ron Paul on Colbert

Paul: "You believe in the income tax?"  Colbert: "Hell no!" I was reading The Teachings of The Prophet Joseph Smith and came across this quote: "The Constitution tells us what shall not be a lawful tender.  Art. I, Section 10 declares that nothing else except gold and silver shall be lawful tender." (p.279) I know of no other potential presidential candidate who holds this view, other than Ron Paul .

Using gang violence to end gang violence

Thuggish police beat, tased, and broke the arm of a student for wearing baggy pants .  It was in an effort to rid the school of its "gang culture." Who's gangsta now? This is what happens when you give a guy a gun, a taser, and bat; immunity from the law; and tell him to go enforce the law. Since the police force is a government monopoly, it has been removed from market forces.  There is no feedback mechanism to tell them whether they're serving the customer or not. Monopoly is why government services (think DMV) suck.  If Costco were to tase customers who wore baggy pants, they would lose customers, get sued, and probably go out of business.  If a police officer abuses customers, our taxes still pay them.
